East Kent Colleges Group (EKC Group) and Social Enterprise Kent have formalised their partnership after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

East Kent Colleges Group (EKC Group) and Social Enterprise Kent have formalised their partnership after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Since 1985, Social Enterprise Kent (SEK) has been supporting communities, individuals and businesses across Kent, through a vast array of programmes.

The MoU was officially signed at the Group's training hotel, the Yarrow Hotel in Broadstairs

With a mission that so clearly aligns with EKC Group’s mission – to empower its communities to develop their economic and social prosperity in a rapidly changing world – the positive impact of a partnership between the two organisations is clear.

Rebecca Smith, who is the CEO of SEK said: “We are delighted to formalise our partnership with EKC Group through this Memorandum of Understanding.

“SEK and EKC Group share a strong commitment to creating opportunities for local people, strengthening communities and supporting a more inclusive East Kent economy.

“By working more closely together, we can build on our combined strengths, connect education and skills with community need, and create even greater impact across the region.”

Lucy McLeod (L), and Rebecca Smith (R) affirmed their organisations' commitment to each other

The MoU comes after a successful collaboration on a 12-week employability initiative designed to support individuals into roles within the NHS and local care employers.

“We’re proud to be formalising our partnership with the fantastic Social Enterprise Kent by signing this MoU,” said Lucy McLeod, CEO of EKC Group.

“As two organisations that align so clearly on our mission, I couldn’t be happier to be working together to remove barriers and create opportunities for people across East Kent.”
