Leading train operator Southeastern has backed EKC Group’s ambitious 100 in 100 campaign after recruiting eight apprentices.
As the largest further education provider in the county, EKC Group operates six colleges across East Kent and nine adult training centres, offering a wide range of apprenticeship pathways through its specialist EKC Training provision.
To encourage more local employers to support the next generation of skilled workers and take on an apprentice, EKC Group launched its bold 100 in 100 campaign.

A key part of this offer is the Group’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Service, a free, tailored support package that guides employers through every stage of recruiting and supporting an apprentice.
This service has already helped countless businesses grow their teams, and the 100 in 100 campaign aims to expand that impact even further, with Southeastern being one of the first major employers to back the campaign after pledging to take on eight apprentices.
“One of the most impressive things about EKC Group, is the Outstanding Ofsted inspection,” Will Francis, who leads on Engineering programmes as an Apprenticeship Learning Coach at Southeastern, said.
“The people at EKC Group and EKC Training have all been very accommodating. There’s a really nice emphasis on the apprentice, on their wellbeing, making sure they’re okay, and building the whole package around them.
“Each of our apprentices have come such a long way. EKC Group gives them the knowledge, we turn that into the skills.”

Will added that apprenticeship pathways are also a great way to upskill existing staff, and mould new colleagues from the start of their career.
“Being able to mould your colleagues, giving them all the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required is great – it means we create good, future-ready colleagues,” he said.
“We create lifelong careers, and to know we’ve got the best people in a role is so important to us.
“There’s not many places you can turn up, learn your job, do your job and get a transferable qualification.
“The sky’s the limit with the right scenario and the right tools. It’s great to see what people can achieve through an apprenticeship. We’re often told that you need to go to university, but it’s not like that now – an apprenticeship can get you where you want to go.”
EKC Group is now calling on employers from all sectors to get involved and pledge their interest in helping to shape the next generation of skilled workers.
