EKC Canterbury College and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) have formalised their partnership after signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This agreement reinforces the organisations’ shared commitment to delivering high-quality training, learning, and employment opportunities for students across Kent.

With the UCA Canterbury campus, which focuses on architecture, spatial and computer design, fine art and visual communications, located next door to EKC Canterbury College, Vice Chancellor of UCA Melanie Gray, says signing the MoU marks the start of a very exciting collaboration.

“It’s an amazing collaboration with such a great partner, I think what everyone does at EKC Group is incredible,” Professor Gray said.

“We are all about education, community and working together for staff and students and coming together like this in terms of this Memorandum of Understanding is a really big step forward in that relationship.”

The Vice Chancellor added that this partnership will offer a host of new opportunities to not just students, but also staff at the College and University.

“We’re really confident that this collaboration is going to lead to some really great opportunities for staff and students,” she added.

“We are hoping that in terms of our student communities, we can offer a wealth of experience that we can share across both the University and EKC Group to enrich the student learning experience, and also the student experience overall is in terms of how they are thinking about moving themselves forward in their careers beyond education.

“Also, for our staff and the broader community, again in terms of actually learning from each other and being part of an ecosystem in terms of what we do from a pedagogy, teaching and academic side, we are certainly going to have lots of opportunities to enrich everyone.

“As we move forward, this type of partnership between ourselves and EKC Group is really special; it’s about relationships and collaborations, and I’m certain we can go from strength to strength with the wider EKC Group community.”

Emily Johnson, Principal of EKC Canterbury College, added: “We’re delighted to have signed an MoU with UCA.

“At EKC Canterbury College, we’re proud to nurture a wealth of talented young artists across a variety of creative courses. This partnership will open up even more opportunities for our students and for those at UCA to collaborate, innovate, and thrive.

“We’re incredibly excited about what the future holds.”
