As the cost of everyday items increases, it is helpful to look at ways to make your money go further. Lucy Sutcliffe, Restaurant Supervisor at our on-site bistro, Streetside, has shared her top tips and a few simple recipes for cheap, homemade and tasty meals.
Bacon Hot Pot - potatoes, onions, bacon, white sauce and cheese. It makes a huge dish - serve with baked beans.
Homemade Fish Fingers - use cheap frozen fish portions, usually 3 large filets of basa or pollock. This makes almost 40 fish fingers. Smash up any left over snacks such as crisps, bread sticks or tortilla chips up in a bag to makes the crispy coating. Make your own chips and garlic mayo.
Use Apps to save money - Download the Too Good to Go app. Local shops, cafes and restaurants offer 'magic bags', filled with fresh food that has not sold that day - helping over 25,000 businesses to reduce their food waste. You can get a bag for as little as £2 and the value is usually around £12.
