Brick and Carpentry students Gain Industry Insight at Site Visits

Many of our students have the chance to experience first-hand the working environment that they are training and studying to work within in the future. Our strong ties with local employers allow us to give students the opportunity to gain industry insight and knowledge before they go into the workplace.

Some of our Level 1 and 2 Brick students recently visited a site at the Barton Manor school in Canterbury, which is being built by Kier Construction.

Assistant Site Manager, Fiona Beal, and Project Manager, Jamie Hawkins, showed the brick students around the site and gave a talk about the construction project.

Brick Tutor, Phil Wood, said: “The site visit was really interesting and gave students an insight into how a large-scale construction project works”.

Some of our Level 2 Carpentry students also had the chance to experience a site visit recently, at the Tonbridge Wells Grammar School which is being managed by Willmott Dixon.

Industry Liaison Officer, Emma Otusajo said: “The site visit gave our carpentry students a real insight into the way a large project is managed, as well as to learn about different design aspects”.

“Thanks so much to Willmott Dixon for taking the time to organise this for us and for their ongoing support for our students”.
