Science A-level results not what you hoped? Considering a University Foundation Year but thinking its too costly? Want to go to university but think another two years is too long? Our one year programme could be for you.
This one year programme is equivalent to two A-levels and carries full UCAS points, e.g. D*D* is worth 112 UCAS points, the same as A*A* in two A-level subjects. It stands alone as a qualification or can be combined with already obtained A-level grades. The BTEC Extended Diploma and Diploma are highly regarded by universities as they are both externally examined, testing a student’s knowledge and internally assessed, testing the student’s ability to research, construct and reference new information in a manner expected by the universities.
The programme is made up of 8 units – 3 of which are externally examined and worth 48% of the marks. The work covers core concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics with a strong emphasis on Chemistry.
The 3 examined units will be taken in January , May and June. The remaining 5 units will be internally assessed via a combination of written assignments, practical laboratory sessions and presentations. These are then internally verified and externally verified by the awarding body Pearson.
95% of our students apply to and successfully obtain places at universities across the country.
Each application will be considered on its own merits with each student interviewed and assessed individually. It is likely you have completed a two year A-level or IB programme and wish to increase your UCAS points. Successful applicants must have GCSE grade 4 (as a minimum) in English and Maths
Applicants under 19 on August 31st: No fees
