Education and Childcare T Level

T Levels are a brand new qualification, equivalent to three A Levels, designed to give you a head start towards the future you want.

Course Overview

The Education and Childcare T Level is a 2-year qualification which combines academic study and industry placement.

In year one, you will study the core units including:

The wider context of education
Safeguarding
Child development
Equality and diversity
Children's behaviour
Special Educational Needs and Disability

In year two of the course you will study the occupational specialism; Early Years Educator, which is where you will focus on working with children under the age of 7.

Course Assessment

All assessment is externally assessed. The core units in year one will be assessed by an exam at the end of the first year and a ‘project’. The project will be a controlled assessment that is linked to work experience.

The occupational specialism in year two will be assessed through a synoptic assessment which includes observation in placement.

Course Progression

After successfully completing the T Level, you can enter:

Skilled employment
Higher-level apprenticeship
University

Work Experience

This course requires you to complete 750 placement hours across the two years with children from 0-7 years old. Our Industry Liaison Officers will support you in finding a placement and we have excellent links with local schools and nurseries, including our own on-site nursery. This qualification will give you a full and relevant qualification and a Level 3 licence to practice.
