'Together' - End of Year Art Show for 2021/22

Our annual end of year art show launched at County Square for a week, allowing the general public to see the hard work of our Art and Design students.

From Monday 27 June to Friday 1 July, Ashford College's Art and Design/Photography students had the chance to present their work at our annual end of year art show. Entitled 'Together', this year's show took place in County Square between Next and New Look. The 5 day limited event featured a wide variety of work from our talented students, including surrealism, still life, model sculpture, animation and much more! Taking place in the heart of the town allowed the general public the chance to see how the student's skills had developed over the past academic year, and to show that talent at Ashford isn't just limited to one form.

Our students and staff from the Art department spent the whole day on Thursday 23rd June preparing and setting up the space for the show, making sure that every piece was on clear view. This really was a group effort, especially when it came to setting up sculptures including giant flowers and butterflies hanging from the ceiling. As well as allowing the students to show off their pieces, it also gave them a real chance to have industry experience with planning and developing an event of this kind.

Some of the art work can be seen throughout this article, really showing the variety of pieces that were on display. We not only hope that this show wowed the public, but that it also inspired future art students who now know what they can do with our facilities and support at Ashford College.

Lesley Farnborough, County Square's Marketing Manager said "We were delighted to host Ashford College's 'Together' art show in County Square Shopping Centre.  To see so many creative pieces in various formats was amazing and it shows the wonderful young talent we have here in Ashford.  It brought a great deal of interest to our shoppers and for those students finishing their course this year, we wish you the best of luck for your future careers"  Many thanks goes to County Square for hosting this show for us, and we hope to continue this great partnership in the future to benefit the Ashford community.
