Staff and Students help out with local Panto

At College, you have the chance to feel Christmassy all year round! Read below to see what we mean...

Although Christmas was over when students returned back to College in January, it didn't mean the festive spirit and entertainment had to end!

At the start of Term 3, shortly after the Christmas break, our Art and Design department ran a collection in college of unwanted Christmas decorations, as well as colourful materials including paper, plastic and even sweet wrappers. These were then delivered to our Art and Design students in their Enrichment workshops (every Wednesday), who were tasked with making fun jazzy and bright props out of these! This was for a local production of Aladdin organised by New Romney Am Dram, who perform around 2 - 3 big plays a year for the nearby community, with local residents forming the cast and crew.

One person who took part in the pantomime was our very own Jane, who is our Programme Director for Business. She played the roles of a Villager and of Bamboo the Panda, which as you can imagine are very different characters to portray! From the images here it is obvious that the play was a lot of fun for all those involved, and we want to say a big thank you to Jane and our Art and Design staff and students for helping out with this production!

If you would like to learn more about how students gain art experience through projects like this, why not take a look at our Art and Design Pathway. You can also meet Jane and the rest of our Business department at our next Open Day.
