KFE4Skills Live is an event with participants from colleges across Kent. Students are encouraged to demonstrate the skills and abilities they have learned at College and take part in course-based competitions such as Theatrical Media Make-Up timed heats and Bricklaying challenges. The competitions are an exciting opportunity for students to gain further experience in their field and enhance their CVs. All participants will receive a competition certificate and the finalists can go forward to be selected to enter regional and national WorldSkills UK competitions, as a representative of Kent Further Education.

As a College, our vision is to empower students to enter skilled employment by providing them with highly career-relevant education and training. In the lead-up to the competition, which begins on 6th March, Canterbury College will be supporting the event with a ‘Skilled Kent’ campaign, as this year’s host of the competition.

We aim to support the KFE vision of building a skilled and motivated workforce that strengthens the local economy and showcases how further education has a positive impact on its learners and the wider community in Kent.

Dane Simonds, Head of Construction, says: "It was clear to see the desire and motivation of all learners selected within their chosen skills, competing in the internal heats hosted with us here at Canterbury College. The students demonstrated fantastic skills and used the knowledge they have been taught by their tutors across the entire EKC Group. We wish all learners competing the very best of luck on 6th March."

We will be sharing examples of student achievement, tips on how to enhance your employability, and support from industry professionals around Kent.
