Pathways are made up of courses focused on future careers or further education opportunities

With its stimulating atmosphere, our Canterbury School of Visual Arts is one of the most exciting places to study in Kent.

Our creative courses allow flexibility for learners to develop their individuality and confidence, providing a comprehensive grounding in art & design disciplines.

Our students are taught by highly qualified tutors, many of whom are practising artists.

Careers

As a student of Canterbury School of Visual Arts at Canterbury College, you will be able to hone your talents into skills that allow you to progress into the world of art.

The desired progression for many of our courses is for students to study at Art Schools and Higher Education.

We recognise that many of our students will also go on to become freelance artists, and therefore we provide a 'Work Ready' club where you will be taught vital networking and business skills that will prepare you for freelancing careers.

However, many of our alumni have progressed into organisations in a variety of job roles, such as:

  • Graphic Designer
  • Illustrator
  • Animator
  • Architect
  • Fashion Designer
  • Photographer
  • Gallery curator. 

Our onsite facilities are available for all students to develop their skills. All of our studios are industry standards. 

You can learn in: 

  • Three purpose-built art studios
  • Printroom
  • iMac Suite
  • Sculpture and ceramic studios
  • Photographic studio
  • HE art & design studios.

BRIT Kids at Canterbury College is one of our newest partnership schools. Hosted at Canterbury College,  BRIT kids offers classes in Theatre, Dance, Singing, Art Club, Digital Design and Film Making.

Role description

Artists create artistic works using appropriate techniques, materials and media; design artwork and illustrations; and restore damaged pieces of art.

Our entry requirements allow any student to apply enrol and progress in their studies with us to achieve their full potential.

You will apply for your chosen pathway and at the interview you can discuss what entry criteria you need for each level.

Once you have your GCSEs we can ensure you are enrolled on the best level for you to progress and succeed at College.

At your interview, we will discuss the entry requirements for each level and course. It is also your opportunity to make sure that the pathway meets your goals and ambitions.
