Currently a sitting Dover District Councillor, Dr Linda Keen has always had a strong commitment to further and higher education: essentially, developing the skills and knowledge of the next generation. She began her career as a lecturer in 1972 at the then Dover Technical College, moved on to Mid-Kent College between 1977 and 1991, and then became a lecturer at the University of Kent Business School, specialising in pubic sector management.
In 1998 Dr Keen was made the Master of Keynes College at the University of Kent for a four year term of office, followed by part-time lecturing, and then an Honorary Research Fellowship for the University School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research from 2014 to 2017. She also served for two years as Provost of the Canterbury campus of a Northern Cyprus University Business and Language School.
As a Dover District Councillor since 2007, she has held a number of Shadow Portfolios including External Affairs, Education and Training, and is currently the Chair of the Scrutiny (Community and Regeneration) Committee.
