A number of departments across Folkestone College have come together to recognise NHS staff and emergency service personnel for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The ‘Big Give Back’ event was held on three days from November 16 to November 18, during which healthcare workers were invited to visit the Shornecliffe Road campus and be pampered for the day at no cost.
A range of free activities were on offer, with our Sports learners and staff providing Health MOTs and yoga classes followed by a relaxing massage.
Alongside that, Hair students offered shampoo and blow dry treatments while Beauty students were on hand to provide manicures.
Visitors were also treated to an afternoon tea, courtesy of our Catering students.
Those with children could even drop them off at a free on-site creche, where our Early Years students would entertain them for the duration of their hard-working parent’s visit.
Michael Bowerman, Programme Director of Sport, said: “After the pressure and stress that NHS staff have experienced over the pandemic, our students wanted an opportunity to say thank you to them.
“All of the departments have therefore banded together to contribute to the Big Give Back events as a way of recognising their hard work.
“The events have been amazing, and to see our students working so hard to organise and put on this event in support of key workers has been really special.”
