Hairdressing And Beauty Therapy T Level

Course Overview

This T Level is suitable for school leavers who want to learn about and enhance their skills in Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing.

This 2-year course is equivalent to three A Levels and gives you the option to choose a specialism in either beauty therapy or hairdressing.

Course Detail

Designed by industry leaders, the T Level combines hands-on learning, academic study, and a 315 hour work experience placement with a local employer.

Over the 2 year programme, you will study the following core units, covering a range of topics alongside your occupational specialism.

  • Business context - including how the sector operates
  • Health & Safety regulations
  • Safe working practices
  • An understanding of the client journey
  • Client consultation
  • Sales and marketing
  • Business practices
  • Self-development.

Course Progression

Once you have successfully completed your T Level, there will be a range of progression opportunities available to you. These include entering skilled employment, starting a higher-level apprenticeship, and going to university.

After studying this T Level, you could progress into a career as a Hairdresser or a Beauty Therapist.

Entry Requirements - 2 year Level 3

This programme of study is designed to accelerate progression toward advanced employment, higher study or apprenticeship opportunities if you are clear about your next steps and you have the explicit entry criteria to ensure your success.

Achievement at level 3 will have a positive impact upon your future earning potential and career options but it also unlocks progression to Higher Education and Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.  These take you from advanced technician or skilled supervisory roles at Level 3 to management and chartered professional status as you continue your studies to higher levels.

For a Level 3, including all T Level and A Level programmes of study, we require students to have an average point on entry score of 5.0 from their best 6 subjects, ideally including English and Mathematics.

In addition to the general entry criteria for T Levels and A Levels many individual subjects will also require students to have specific GCSE grades in specific subjects, and some will have a specified level of skill requirement as well as specific GCSE grade requirements. Please see the individual information regarding the requirements for each subject course.
