The catering and hospitality industry has ballooned in recent years – it now employs more than one in eight of the British workforce. The industry offers an exciting range of career paths, from traditional cooking roles in restaurants, to more unusual jobs, such as food writing and styling for magazines, product development, or even teaching.
If you are passionate about cookery and looking for a way to enhance your skills and learn new techniques? This could be the course for you.
This course is suitable for learners who currently work in the industry or have experience and knowledge of food and cooking.
The aim of this course is to develop key skills within the professional cookery industry such as preparing and cooking meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, sauces, soups, pasta, rice, dough, pastry, cakes and hot and cold desserts.
While you are learning you will be spending time in our professional kitchens learning from experienced chefs who will teach you everything you need to know to improve your skills and learn something new.
Evidence for this course must be gathered in a realistic working environment.
You will be guided by your tutor/assessor on how to achieve learning outcomes and ranges in this unit.
Portfolio evidence will be provided through observation, photographic evidence, and written evidence.
Course hours will be 8 hours a week, for 26 weeks.
