Donna's teaching career began working in Secondary Education as a PE and IT Teacher and then Deputy Head of the PE Department at School in the Southwest. Her move to the FE sector came in 2003 as a Programme Manager for Sport at an FE College before relocating back to Kent and joining Broadstairs College as the Programme Director for Sport, progressing to Programme Area Manager for Sport and then Head of the Built Environment Department. Teaching and learning is an area of real enjoyment for Donna and she has been fortunate enough to take on additional roles such as Teaching and Learning Facilitator, then Senior Teaching and Learning Facilitator, which has allowed her to support in the development of high quality teaching, learning and assessment at the college.
Her time in Further Education has proven to be incredibly rewarding as Folkestone College really is at the heart of the community and offers learning experiences across a vast age range and in many specialist areas of interest. Donna feels passionately about the additional experiences that a study programme can offer a student here at college, by enhancing their employability skills and providing new life experiences, through both work experience and social actions projects, which allows them to engage with their local communities so positively.
In her spare time Donna enjoys running and cycling and often competes in endurance based events such as 5 or 10km races or duathlons. 2019 saw Donna's first attempt at a Spartan event, which was an incredibly challenging but rewarding experience. Donna also enjoys spending time with her dog and testing her home improvement skills through the renovation of her home.
