In addition to the Students' Union, each course elects a Class Rep whose job it is to represent their class and feedback on any issues, concerns or ideas for improvements the class has.
Throughout the year, students can enjoy a range of enrichment activities and trips. In the past, we have run trips to London, Harry Potter World, Thorpe Park and even Bruge for their stunning Christmas Markets! These trips are run with the support of the Students' Union who helps fund the trip expenses, keeping any outstanding costs to you as low as possible.
We also boast a fantastic breakout space, called the Student Centre, where students can enjoy their chillout time playing table tennis, pool, PS4 or even rocking it on the dance machine!
As part of our enrichment programme, we highlight a number of current affairs, putting on charity events or inviting guest speakers in to speak with students about a current issue or opportunity. These range from talks around sexual health, to career and progression opportunities. Last year we were pleased to invite the Royal Marines in to speak with our motor vehicle and engineering learners about opportunities within the force. Following this, students were encouraged to take part in a very muddy PT session!

Access to HE: Why returning to education is worth it
Nearly two years ago, after 20 odd years of leaving education, I started the Pre-Access course. It was an impulse decision and I was uncertain what I wanted to do for a career in the future. I was happy to learn, I'm on a low income and was able to get funding from the college for transport and childminding. This really helped with returning to education.

Art and Design: A student perspective
What do you like most about coming to college? Miya: I like the fact that we can wear what we like as long as it’s acceptable and this makes us feel comfortable with ourselves. This goes into my next point. College is more advanced than school in many ways.

Early Years: A day in the life of an Early Years student
My College day starts at 9.00am, but I arrive at 8.30am to catch up with friends and grab some breakfast from the refectory before I head off to class. Today I am in college developing my understanding of Early Years practice, but tomorrow I will be in my work placement in a Nursery developing my work skills.

Engineering: A student testimonial
My name is Sam and I studied Engineering; first level 2, moving onto level 3 in Septemeber 2019.
The thing I enjoyed most about the course, was the practicals we did in the workshop.
Following the completion of my level 3, the college supported me in applying for university, where I am now studying Mechanical Engineering (Foundation), where I plan to progress onto the full degree and even a Masters.
Overall, I enjoyed my time at Dover Technical College and would recommend the College to others, scoring it a 4.5 out of 5!
Hairdressing: Rosie returns to tell us about her success since college

Travel and Tourism: Student Testimonial
My name is Harry and I study Travel and Tourism level 3. I started at Dover Technical College in 2019, completing the first year of my level 3 before returning this September to finish the full qualification.
I enjoy the camaraderie and the tutors are great at what they do, alongside being experts in their field. Once I complete my level 3, I'd like to work for a railway company in Europe.
I would definitely recommend studying at Dover College - 5/5 stars!
