Careers Yearly Programme Plan

Summary of the sessions offered and timetable for the careers programme plan

As the parent/carer or guardian of a current student, we want you to be able to have discussions with your child about their future career:

  • Access details of your child's careers appointments on Parent Portal - you will receive details about parent portal when your child starts with the college
  • Speak to your child's tutor at parent's evening - these are arranged throughout the year - and tutors can be contacted via their email at other times

Parent/carers and guardians are a major influencer in the decision making of young people when it comes to their career planning. Talking Futures have created A Parent's Toolkit for Careers Conversations to help support you with this, click here to access the website TALKING FUTURES or go to www.talkingfutures.org.uk

For parents who have children applying to university after they finish college and you want to know more about the process, UCAS has a wealth of resources for parents, click here UCAS or go to www.ucas.com

If your child is interested in progressing onto an apprenticeship after college and you want to know more the Amazing Apprenticeships website has a pack with information for parents, click here Parent Pack

Not Going to Uni is great website for both parents and their children to use together. This is a link to the Parents Page where you find links to some really interesting resources.

Don't forget, current students can access the Careers page on the college Moodle site where they will find further information, advice and resources such as CV templates and interview tips. Details on how they can book a guidance session and where to find the careers office is also on there.

Please email our Careers and Progression Officer if you have any further questions on katie.jones@eastkent.ac.uk
