Nick Holbrook-Sutcliffe

Nick has been the Principal of Dover Technical College since April 2017.

Nick started in FE as a lecturer in Art and Design, taking time out to work in India to develop an art school in Rajasthan. On his return Nick went on to gain experience across a range of colleges, as a Course Leader, Senior Advance Practitioner, Programme Manager, Head of Curriculum and Director of Partnerships and Development, where he looked after large contracts and all subcontracted activity.  More recently, he worked in the private sector developing commercial strategies and building diverse partnerships to deliver innovative apprenticeships to the automotive, retail and fashion sectors.  He has also been a Chair of Governors for a SEN school and sits on a number of community groups that increase opportunity and life choices for local people.

Nick is passionate about the student voice and the transformational potential of education.  He is committed to providing the best possible experience for all, which goes further than simply achieving a qualification, but systematically removes any barriers to progression and increases aspiration to get to the highest possible level of learning or employment goals.  Nick has worked hard to ensure that the College’s purpose is directly aligned to regional opportunities and Dover Technical College has particularly strong links with local employers and stakeholders, all of whom share Nick’s commitment that everyone should have an opportunity to meet their highest potential, both academically and personally.

Nick is married with two young children and enjoys playing guitar, painting, listening to music, cricket and he keeps a small flock of chickens.
