As the Group Deputy Principal and Deputy Chief Executive, Anne leads on a range of services and provision across the Group. She manages the business unit leaders, ensuring quality of provision and leading curriculum development across the Group.
Starting her career in human resources, Anne progressed through a number of roles in the NHS before being promoted to the post of Personnel Manager. This saw her lead a team that delivered a comprehensive HR service to more than 1,500 staff.
In 1992, Anne became East Kent College’s first Personnel Manager, in preparation for the incorporation of FE colleges, when they would become independent of local county councils. Over the next two years Anne headed up Human Resources at the college during a period of turbulence for the Further Education sector with significant changes to long established working practices for staff. Anne went on to extend her remit to include staff training and development, quality improvement and assurance, health and safety and became Clerk to Corporation in 1998.
Anne also pursued professional recognition for her experience and expertise becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development in 2000.With a passion for further education, Anne took on a wider brief and became the Director of Corporate Services covering Student Services, Learning Support, Students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and Marketing as well as HR, Quality Assurance and Training and Development.
In 1998, Anne became Deputy Principal at East Kent College. Her primary responsibilities included assessing and supporting the effectiveness of the three college campuses, to ensure the improvement of the Folkestone and Dover campuses, with a vibrant and successful provision for students and stakeholders. Anne also took responsibility for capital programmes, the IT network systems, HR and the pre-16 provision including the Technical School and the Nursery. When East Kent College developed its partnership with Canterbury College, Anne took on the expanded Deputy Principal role as a leadership team member shared across both colleges. She has now taken on the position as Group Deputy Principal and Deputy Chief Executive.
Anne lives near Canterbury and supports the Thanet community with a passion. She is on the board of the Millmead Children’s Centre in Margate, and is a trustee of the Margate Football Club Academy. She is also a designated board member for a new community hub at St George’s Church in Ramsgate. To relax, Anne enjoys working on her allotment and is a season ticket holder for Saracens Rugby Club. In 2011 she was recognised for her service to the public sector with an invitation to a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
