College Essentials

Whether these are your first steps outside of secondary school or you’re a college veteran, this quick Dos and Don’ts guide will have you ready and raring to go as we head into the new academic year.

Dos

Stock up on stationery
Preparation is a key part of college life and making sure you have exactly what your course requires is a simple and effective way of making sure that you hit the ground running. Check your course website and cross-reference that with industry-standard practices, then all you need to do is make a list! Lists are such an easy way of helping you clear your mind and get organised before term starts, and all you need for that is a pen and paper…

Visit the Students’ Union
At the heart of campus, your Students’ Union is there for everything from fun trips, to confidential impartial advice, and much more. Grab yourself a Totum Card (a student discount card), chat to Andrew (President) and Sam (Vice-President) about any ideas you have to improve the student experience at Canterbury College, and see what events might catch your eye in the coming year. You can check that out here

Treat yourself to a new bag
Sometimes you’ve just got to treat yourself and a new bag is not only as practical as it is a fashionable item, it gives you a chance to check out what Canterbury has to offer. Whitefriars shopping centre (just through the bus stop) is a great place to start and gives you a chance to put that Totem Card to use as well!

Enter our College Starter Pack competition
If you fancy winning a free Sports Centre membership, a £20 Refectory Card, a free trip to ‘Screamland’ in Margate and more, just tag us in your new term photos! It’s as simple as that. We’ll announce the winner on our social media channels.

More information on the competition will be available on our website! Follow our socials at the bottom of the page.

Don’ts
