What to Expect at Virtual Open Day

We have adapted our Open Day to ensure that all prospective students are still able to explore Canterbury College without visiting the campus and get all of the information they need in order to find a course that’s right for them. Virtual Open Days are a relatively new concept – but there’s still ways you can make the most out of the event. Here’s what to expect from our Open Day.

Virtual Site Tour

At an Open Day you would usually expect to be able to tour our campus and this is something you will still be able to do.

Our 360 tour will allow you to explore our facilities and get a feel for the College campus. As well as being able to see our communal areas, such as the LRC and the fitness centre, you will also be able to tour our departments.

If you have a course in mind, this is a great opportunity to explore the area that you would be learning in and check out the facilities that will enhance your learning.

Meet the Students

Whichever course you are interested in, you will be able to watch a current student speak about their experience at College. For some courses, the student will show you around the facilities and speak about some of the course content. This will allow you to hear first-hand what being a learner at Canterbury College is like and you will find out more about what the course entails and why it may be right for you.

Course Presentations

It’s important to find out all the details of your chosen pathway, what to expect and where your qualification can take you. All this information will be available to you at Virtual Open Day, as Heads of Departments present a more in-depth slideshow with all the details you may need.

Looking at this will help you decide on a course and whether it is suitable for you. It may also give you more of an idea of what is expected of you, and what you can expect from your learning experience.

Student Life

As part of Virtual Open Day, you will get to explore what life is like as a College student. Alongside our student videos, you can learn more about the perks of College life, such as discounts available to you, trips you can go on, events you can attend and societies that you can be involved in.

You will also be able to listen to a presentation given by Canterbury College Principal, Victoria Copp-Crawley, who will give you an idea about what it means to be a student at College, and what you can expect from your learning experience. College is a different environment to school, allowing you to be more independent, so it is important to find out more about what this means for you and your education journey.

Find out how we can support you

You may have questions or concerns about attending College, but you will be able to receive guidance for these at Virtual Open Day.

You will be able to meet our Information & Guidance team who have created a video explaining the support they can offer you before you enrol, or even whilst you are a student. From careers advice to financial support, you will be able to access these services and find out if you are eligible for bursaries or financial support to help you attend College.

If you have any additional questions about support services or are unsure on what to study, the Virtual Open Day features details that enable you to contact a member of the team who will support you with this.

Alongside this, you will also find out more about our Additional Learning Support department, who can assist further with students with complex needs.
