Feeling inspired and missing the practical elements of his course over lockdown, Billy began to gather materials to make the stairs, and with help from his brother managed to set his plan in action to create something useful for his family that would withstand the elements.
He said, “My family were very pleased. They were a bit taken aback by what I had achieved, but they were very impressed. I used the skills I have learned on my course this year. Even my brother was surprised how good it ended up looking.”
Billy’s mum, Wendy Pynn, was particularly thrilled with his construction and said, “Billy loves building with wood and is really enjoying his course.”
“The best thing about my course is being taught how to achieve things and to be happy with your end-product. It really gives me a sense of achievement. At College I have learned so many relevant skills that I can put to great use in the future.”
Billy was praised by his tutor, Craig Munn who said, “Billy works so hard in all of his lessons, really focused and puts his all in.”
It is fantastic to see students using the skills they have learned on their course to go to the extra mile and create something in their own time.
