This course is designed for those wishing to build on introductory skills acquired at Level 1, or with previous industry experience. This course will allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the engineering sector.
A range of units are available to choose from:
This course is mainly taught with practical work, with students carrying projects in the college's welding and fabrication workshops, but there is also an element of written work which needs to be completed for each unit you study.
Students are then assessed by completing a personal portfolio and observed tasks.
Upon successful completion, students will be equipped with the skills and experience to progress to further study and then seek employment as a welder.
Learners should have achieved a Level 1 qualification in Welding or another related industry prior, or have relevant industry experience. Tutors will assess suitability at the time of application and enrolment.
Part-time courses are only for students that are 19 years of age and over at the start of their study programme.
EKC Group are utilising Adult Education Budget (AEB) funding, through the Government, to make learning more accessible for our communities, therefore:
*Dependant on income, this course may be available to you free or at a reduced cost. This course is only available to those over the age of 19. This course may also be free if you do not already hold a Level 3 qualification and over the age of 24.
