Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (Adults) Level 3

This qualification will provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. Although this is a one-year course, learners will be in the workplace for two days a week.

What will I learn?

You will learn about children and young people's development, safeguarding their welfare, and communication.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your tutor and assessor using a range of methods. This will include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments and tasks.

What may it lead to?

This will lead to employment as a senior teaching assistant, senior learning support assistant or senior special educational needs assistant. Students could also apply for the Higher Level Teaching Assistants course.

Entry requirements

4 Cs or 4s including English and Maths.

Additional information & other costs

Students will need a DBS and must be working or volunteering in a school setting for a minimum of 12 hours per week.

If you are not already employed or volunteering in a school, the team will support you in seeking a placement opportunity at the College.

Please note you must be at least 19 years of age before you start this course.
