NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Cyber Security Practices

This course covers the theory and practice of protecting and maintaining a safe and secure digital environment both at home and in the workplace. Learn about the ever-evolving threats and challenges in the modern online landscape and how to best guard against intruders.

What will I learn?

  • Types of cyber crime and cyber criminals - common threats and vulnerabilities and the skills needed within the sector.
  • Terminology used in cyber security - learn the language used in industry to describe different kinds of attacks and defences, as well as current and emerging challenges.
  • Legal and ethical aspects of cyber security - covers the legislation and techniques behind confidentiality, data protection and encryption and common types of unethical behaviour.
  • Common threats to cyber security - discover the range of both physical and digital threats in the field and the best practices of guarding against them.
  • Methods of maintaining cyber security - User Access Control and firewalls; the very foundations of digital protection.
  • Understanding of the team dynamics and communication conventions that underpin cyber security networks.

What may it lead to?

Learners who achieve this qualification may wish to broaden their knowledge by taking a similar Level 3 qualification, or pursue employment or university-level education.

What qualifications do I need?

Learners will need to have a relevant Level 2 qualification or experience; however, all applicants will be interviewed and assessed on an individual basis.

Part-time courses are only for students that are 19 years of age and over at the start of their study programme.

£941 per person*.

*This course may be free to those who are 19+ and unemployed, receiving universal credit or job seeker’s allowance. This course may also be free if you do not already hold a Level 3 qualification and over the age of 24.
