Maths Functional Skills - Daytime (19+)

This daytime course for students aged 19+ and will give you more future opportunities in work and education. You'll learn in a caring environment with an experienced tutor, and will also have access to computing software that enables you to get a better understanding of the topics covered in class. This course is held on Thursdays between 09:00 and 11:45. 

What will I learn?

You will learn how to analyse situations mathematically and problem solve using the five key areas of mathematics: number, ratio, algebra, geometry and statistics.

How will I be assessed?

There will be two exams, one non-calculator paper (25 minutes) and one calculator paper (90 minutes). These will be taken one after the other on the same day. In class (during the course), you'll be assessed in a variety of different ways.

What may it lead to?

This qualification will provide you with the first stepping stone on the path to many career and educational opportunities in your chosen field.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade E–G (2 or 1) including Functional Skills English and Maths level 1 or GCSE grade 1 or 2. You must be 19+ when you start the course.

Additional information & other costs

The Study Programme will follow the Edexcel syllabus and will cover the five main elements of maths at Level 2: number, ratio, algebra, statistics and geometry.

Exam sittings for Functional Skills are on demand, meaning that students are entered for an exam when they are showing that they are ready.

*There is no fee for undertaking a Functional Skills mathematics course but you will be expected to provide your own mathematical equipment so that you may practice in class and at home.
