VQR Hairdressing Level 2

From consultations to styling, this course has a strong vocational emphasis, enabling you to develop practical hairdressing skills recognised by employers.

What will I learn?

During this course, you will have the opportunity to develop the essential skills required in order to build a career in hairdressing. Students have the opportunity to compete in College competitions, with winners going on to national and international WorldSkills competitions.

The course has a strong vocational emphasis, allowing you to develop practical skills recognised by employers. You'll be encouraged to develop your own abilities, and also to communicate and interact with external clients.

  • Consultations and diagnostics;
  • Cutting;
  • Colouring;
  • Styling and setting;
  • Stock control;
  • Interacting with the public;
  • Health and safety;
  • Functional Skills.

This qualification will require you to develop an effective working methodology, which will enable you to react positively and creatively across a diverse range of assignments and creative activities.

How will I be assessed?

You will be continually assessed throughout the course and will complete practical assessments on paying clients, as well as written assignments and online tests. You will create a portfolio of evidence to display your achievement.

What may it lead to?

This can lead to the Level 3 Hairdressing course at Canterbury College, entry onto an Apprenticeship scheme or employment within the hairdressing industry.

Additional information & other costs

Students will need to purchase a uniform and hairdressing kit from our approved suppliers and must abide by our professional dress code.

Work experience is highly recommended but not essential.

Fee-paying models may be required for some assessments.
