This course is perfect for individuals who want to sample a wide variety of engineering subjects. It provides a strong foundation for students who are curious about how things are designed and manufactured.
The course covers mechanical and electrical science, engineering information, workplace practices, mechanical technology, electronic circuitry and CAD. The majority of the coursework is based on practical skills in the mechanical and electrical workshops. You will also learn design skills using computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks.
You will complete a personal portfolio, undertake online tests, carry out observed tasks and develop an extended project throughout the year. You will also study Functional Skills.
You can progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma at Canterbury College (subject to interview). Additionally, the course can lead to employment or an Apprenticeship in the sector.
4 Ds or 3s or above including English at 3 and Maths at 4 or a relevant Full Level 1.
