This is a Level 1 qualification that enables you to progress into further learning in the building services electrical sector. You will learn practical skills that enable you to complete basic common electrotechnical tasks. This level is ideal if you're just starting out and want a good basic understanding of the electrical industry.
This is a QCF qualification. Learners will need to undertake the following mandatory units: Structure of the Construction Industry, Fundamental Safe Working Practices, Environmental and Sustainability Measures in Domestic Dwellings, Site Preparation for Working in the Construction Industry, Electrical Installation Wiring and Terminations, Fabrication Techniques for Electrical Installations and Electrical Science and Technology.
Assessments are set by City & Guilds, delivered and marked by the tutor or assessor. All units will be internally verified by the College and externally verified by City & Guilds.
This qualification does not lead directly to a job but does provide learners with the basic core skills training and underpinning knowledge to progress into further learning such as an Apprenticeship in Electrical or the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
Students are expected to complete 30 hours of work experience.
No work experience is required though any prior experience or work throughout the course will greatly support a student's progression.
