In year two of the course you will study the occupational specialism; Early Years Educator which is where you will focus on working with children under the age of 7. This course requires you to complete 750 placement hours across the two years with children from 0-7 years old. This qualification will give you a full and relevant qualification and a Level 3 licence to practice.
The entry requirements are 5 GCSEs, at grade 4 or above or equivalent, including English and maths. You will also need a clear DBS check.
All assessment is externally assessed. The core units in year one will be assessed by an exam at the end of the first year and a ‘project’. The project will be a controlled assessment that is linked to work experience.
The occupational specialism in year two will be assessed through a synoptic assessment which includes observation in placement.
