Early Years Educator - Workforce Diploma (Adults) Level 3

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as early years educators.

This qualification is worth 32 UCAS points.

Please note you must be at least 19 years of age before you start this course.

What will I learn?

The Diploma enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to five years. The course is built around four themes: Health and Well-being; Legislation Frameworks; Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness; and Professional Development.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your tutor and assessor using a range of methods including direct observation in the workplace, an e-portfolio of evidence, written assignments and tasks. Learners will need to be on practical work placement as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. To gain this qualification, learners will need to pass all units, complete a longitudinal study and show competence in a real work environment.

What may it lead to?

Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as early years educators.

Entry requirements

GCSE English and Maths A*- C or Functional Skills Level 2.

You can enrol to achieve these grades alongside your course, but you must achieve these qualifications to progress into employment.

Learners will need to be working or volunteering in an early years setting which includes the age range of birth to five.

Additional information & other costs

The course is one year and requires you to attend college for two hours a week.

Students will also be expected to complete work at home (a commitment of three hours per week) via e-portfolio, and in the work setting. Attendance at an assessment day is required, and the date and time will be given at interview. Access to a computer and the internet is essential, and students will need a DBS and a letter of confirmation from your arranged work setting confirming that you are working or volunteering for at least 12 hours a week.
