Pathways

Pathways are made up of courses focused on future careers or further education opportunities

If you are hands-on and enjoy practical challenges, a job in the construction industry could be for you.

Students have access to industry-standard equipment and facilities within our workshops and are taught by staff that have worked within the industry, applying their experience and knowledge to student learning.

Extensive links with employers and sector leaders throughout East Kent enables you to gain industry experience and build a network with future employers.

Facilities

Our Carpentry courses take place in our dedicated trades block, where you can practice your skills in a professional environment, alongside like-minded students.

You can take advantage of:

Studying one of our Carpentry courses can open up progression routes in a range of different specialist roles, such as:

  • Furniture maker
  • Carpenter
  • Wood machinist 
  • Fence installer.

After completing one of our Level 2 courses, you may wish to explore the option of further study at our Folkestone campus, or an apprenticeship.

Role description

Carpenters and joiners construct, erect, install and repair wooden structures and fittings used in internal and external frameworks and cut, shape, fit and assemble wood to make templates, jigs, scale models and scenic equipment for theatres.

You will apply for your chosen pathway and at the interview you can discuss what entry criteria you need for each level.

Once you have your GCSEs we can ensure you are enrolled on the best level for you to progress and succeed at College.
