Gateway into Construction

What will I learn?

This useful part-time course will teach you the basic construction skills that you can apply to projects in your own home. Upon completion of this course you will be able to troubleshoot any domestic issue without requiring callout fees from tradesmen.

Over the course you will learn a range of topics enabling you to develop skills and an understanding of:

- Working in construction
- Health and safety in construction
- Carpentry skills
- Producing basic woodworking joints
- Basic block laying
- Basic bricklaying
- Erecting block walling with an opening

What may it lead to?

When you have completed this course, you may want to consider taking Site Carpentry or Electrical qualifications.

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed by portfolio-based work, which is both practical and theoretical. 

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required for this course.

Additional information & other costs

You will need to wear steel-toe capped footwear and appropriate trousers. 

You will need to bring pens and pencils.
