What will I learn?

This course is ideal for anyone working in boarding kennels and catteries, animal rescue centres, and dog walkers/pet sitters. It can also be undertaken by dog and cat owners looking to gain the knowledge to help their own animal should the need arise.

The course is certificated and provides the relevant practical skills and knowledge to enable the provision of safe and effective first aid to animals in emergency situations.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the role of an animal first aider
  • Recognise common injuries in cats and dogs
  • Know how to provide emergency care for animals
  • Have the ability to provide immediate first aid care to animals

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to pass an online multiple-choice exam and a practical assessment, which involves responding to and assessing an animal in a first aid situation in order to achieve this qualification.
