You will be assessed by practical assessments and written assignments, as well as in-class assessments throughout your course.
The 1-year Level 2 programme is aimed to support learners in developing academic skills. This programme will give learners the opportunity to improve their English and Maths with embedded English and Maths sessions as well as developing learners' scientific knowledge gained from GCSE Sciences.
The 2-year Level 2 programme is intended to support learners to employment after successful completion of the qualification.
All learners on the programme are expected to undertake work experience in the animal industry. Learners will be given the opportunity to undertake their work experience in a 2-week block placement per academic year or supported to attaining a 1-day per week placement for the academic year.
Depending on the qualifications you hold upon enrolment, you may be advised to study this qualification over one or two years. This will be thoroughly discussed at interview to ensure that you are on the most appropriate programme of study.
Learners on this programme will be expected to undertake scheduled weekend and holiday duties which will be planned alongside your tutors once you start the course.
Visits are arranged to a range of zoos, parks, animal centres and businesses to expand your knowledge of the sector.
Students will benefit from guest speakers on a termly basis to deepen their understanding of the course content.
Learners are expected to take part in social action projects twice a year.
Students will be required to wear PPE for practical activities. Information about purchasing these items will be given at enrolment.
