The blended learning option for AAT Accountancy offers learners a balance between monthly teaching time and independent learning. It is ideal for those learners whose employment patterns or opportunities to learn may be limited by weekly classes.
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in four mandatory units which ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a career in finance or professional accountancy. The units are:
This programme is offered as a blended learning programme: online learning modules supported by monthly tutor-led lessons in college and online tutor support between lessons.
AAT qualifications are universally respected and internationally recognised. Organisations hire AAT-qualified members for their knowledge, skills, diligence and enthusiasm, because AAT represents the highest standards of professionalism.
You will learn how to process a range of accounting transactions. By the time you finish the course, you will also be able to perform a range of calculations for financial and management accounting purposes. One of the key skills that an employer will look for in a potential employee is attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. This course will fully equip you with these skills.
All assessments are set and marked by AAT and students must achieve the 70% pass mark in each unit to pass the qualification. The four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments (exams) and one synoptic assessment sat at the end of the course examines all of the units.
All examinations are computerised and are marked by AAT. The qualification is graded pass, merit and distinction.
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable students to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning when employed.
Students are expected to have a good level of literacy and numeracy (ideally GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4/C or above).
Independent learning is an important part of the study programme and students will have regular tasks to complete out of college timetabled hours. Students should have good time management skills in order to structure their independent learning.
Please note, as this is a blended learning course, you can start at any time.
