The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The purpose of the qualification is to offer grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either to employment or to a more advanced level of study. You have the chose of studying the qualification on either Thursdays or Fridays and takes one year to complete.
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in five mandatory units which ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a career in finance or professional accountancy. The units are:
All assessments are set and marked by AAT. Four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments (exams) and one synoptic assessment sat at the end of the course examines all of the units.
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable students to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning.
A good standard of English and maths is required (ideally GCSE at grade C or above, or equivalent).
The course is delivered in either a morning and afternoon session or an afternoon and evening session.
You will be required to purchase a set of textbooks, which will be available to buy direct from the publisher at a book sale held on enrolment day. Books purchased at enrolment will be heavily discounted.
