Updates: Colleges & Business Units | Commercial Outlets and Nurseries
Advice for: Students, Parents and Carers | College Applicants | Apprentices
This qualification will suit those students who have had minimal work experience or adults seeking to validate their existing skills or to progress in their career. It may interest those who are self-employed or working in small businesses who wish to do their own bookkeeping. It will also be of value to those students who are studying the AAT Access Award in Accounting Software.
The AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping offers students at Level 1 the opportunity to develop practical bookkeeping skills.
A student completing this qualification will develop an understanding of the role of the bookkeeper, learning underpinning theory including how to identify assets, liabilities, income and expenses; how to identify profit and loss; and the differences between trading for cash and trading on credit. Students will be introduced to the dual effect of transactions, which will support progression on to studying bookkeeping at Foundation Level.
This qualification can offer a route into employment, support students in their existing work or help students to pursue further study with AAT (Award in Accounting Software and Foundation Certificate in Accounting).
Students must pass one end-of-qualification assessment to achieve the qualification. This is an externally assessed qualification.
For the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their AAT studies with a good standard of English and maths.
The course fee is £300, which includes AAT membership and one exam sitting. You may be eligible for adult funding for this course. Please check with our Information and Guidance Team.
