This fast-paced course will give you a solid foundation in GCSE Maths. It is for adult learners (19+) who are intending to commence the college’s Access to Higher Education Diploma programme in September 2021.
This is a short, intensive course which will allow you to take GCSE Maths at foundation tier (where the maximum grade is C/4). You will develop your skills in a supportive, caring learning environment and will have access to maths software for self-study.
You will sit the foundation tier GCSE Maths exams.
There will be 6 hours a week delivery, 4 of which will be a mandatory, weekly classroom session and the other 2 will be alternating every other week between a compulsory self-directed study session and a further 2 hour classroom session.
The 2 hour session will be on a different day to the 4 hour session..
GCSE Maths can help you to join other courses (including the Access to Higher Education programmes).
At the interview stage, you will have your numeracy levels assessed. You must demonstrate that you are working at GCSE grade D/3 standard.
Prior to the start of the course, students will be asked to complete a set amount of Hegarty maths tasks and will also be asked to complete an entry test.
