No matter what subject or area of expertise, we are sure to have a course that suits your needs. We offer part time and short courses across all our departments, such as English, Maths, CAD Engineering (Computer Aided Design), AAT Bookkeeping, Hairdressing, Beauty and many more! If there is a course that you would like us to run, why not speak to our staff at one of our Open Days or Adult Course Events to see if this is possible? With the launch of Phase 2 in the next academic year we are sure to have even more opportunities come up.
For most of our short courses, no experience at all is required, as these are designed to be fun "taster" sessions or 6 week classes where you work on one solid project. Some of our recent short courses such as Ceramics and Photography have allowed students of 19+ to come along and learn new skills, whether they are experts in the field or not. Ceramic students made ceramic bowls and pottery over a 6 week period, from initial concept and design to creation and unveiling of the final products.
Our Part Time courses at Ashford College are all run by those who have got great experiences and connections in the industry, so you will be learning from the very best. Our Part Time courses are designed to let you develop/gain new skills and will give you a qualification that can be used either in a new career or in development in your current job. Examples of these courses include Access to HE, Women's Hairdressing, AAT qualified Accounting and Bookkeeping, Health and Social qualifications and many more. These courses could even be used by your company as an example of CPD if you want your employees to develop!
All our courses for those 19+ will give you the chance to work alongside like minded individuals who share the same passions and hobbies as you. If you want to make friends in the wider Ashford community, or maybe want to meet people who are interested in the same areas of study, there is no better chance to than here.
You may even find that by doing a short course, you discover a new hobby that you will grow to love! If you've never done it before, why not come and have a go at something like Nail Technology, Printmaking or Music Production? There is nothing to lose, and at the end you will walk away with new skills and lots of discoveries about something new.
Students on our 19+ courses have found that they have developed not just their skills and their careers, but also themselves and their confidence. Access to HE (Higher Education) students Guy and Ellie spoke on our blog about this, with Ellie saying that "Access has made me feel I am worthy of getting myself a really good education and career and that I am better than I think I am. It’s given me self-worth and a massive confidence boost." You can read our full interview with them here on our blog.
Thanks to Government funding, some of our short courses could be free, and our Part Time courses could be co-funded. This means that with Ashford College more doors can be opened for you to learn in something that you are really passionate about or just want to give a try. (*This all depends on your personal circumstances, such as if you are earning under a certain amount a year, or have not got that level of qualification before. This can be discussed in college or by email or phone with our support team, who you can contact on 01233 743100 or ashford@ekcgroup.ac.uk .
Remember, just because you are 19+ doesn't mean you can't do one of our amazing Full Time courses. These are specifically designed to help you progress in that sector of choice, whether it be going off to University, developing a new career or gaining paid work thanks to experience with our many industry links.
