Students Raise Over £160 at Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Friday 27 September, Business Studies students from Ashford College held a Macmillan coffee morning, raising £164.13 for the cancer support charity.

The Level 3 learners ran a raffle with Macmillan-based items up for grabs, whilst the Level 2 learners organised the cake sales, with support from their tutors Jane Nott and Sonia Franklin Smith. The Level 3 students also completed the banking of the money following the event.

All the learners are aiming to develop their team-working, organisational and communication skills as part of their qualification, and this provided a great opportunity to put them into practice.

Jane Nott said: “We were very proud of the enthusiasm the students brought to the morning and how well they worked together. It was an ideal opportunity to attain something positive to benefit the wider community from a team-working exercise.”

The group were also supported by the Student Services team and Catering lecturer Jackie Apps, who provided some of the excellent cakes.
