Five Tech Jobs You Can Do with a T Level in Digital

Specialist digital skills are in high demand. The T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development offers a fast-track route into a wide range of exciting careers. Here are the top five roles (in no particular order) you can progress into after completing your T Level.

1. Computer Games Developer

Computer Games Developers design and build video games that can be played online, and on PCs, mobile phones, tablet devices, and games consoles.   

During a typical day, you could:

  • Outline what a game will look like and how it can be played
  • Create visual characters, objects and scenery for the game
  • Design the code to programme the game
  • Produce concept art and drawings or storyboards at the planning stage
  • Quality test and debug code

You could work in a creative studio or office.

2. Web Developer

Web Developers build reliable and high-performing websites, apps, and services that can be accessed over the internet.

During a typical day, you could:

  • Meet with internal and external clients to define the project requirements
  • Write code in one or more programming or scripting languages
  • Create prototype designs to test and improve ideas
  • Build and test Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data
  • Fix bugs in existing projects, and carry out code refactoring and optimisation of existing code
  • Build and maintain databases

  • Build prototypes and drafts that communicate your ideas to your team/clients
  • Write clear specifications and guidelines for developers and designers

Computer Games Testers play computer games to check they work, and find and record problems or 'bugs'.

During a typical day, you could:

  • Test different levels and versions of a game
  • Enter each 'bug report' on a quality management system

  • Check a game's accessibility options
  • Compare the game against others on the market
