As part of our Phase 2 expansion, we are adding an "Engineering Hub" to our college campus. This hub space will allow even more students to study Engineering with us, as well as provide a dedicated space for the subject. By improving and adding to our facilities, we are also improving and adding the amount of opportunities that our students will be able to have. Engineering is in growing demand across the country and the world, including in a wide range of sectors such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, railway and biomedical.
With our college having a growing focus on T Levels, we are proud that our Engineering T Level launching in September 2023 will make the best use of these new facilities. As well as enjoying unique experiences in college, our expert tutors have enjoyed great careers in Engineering and have great links with high profile employers within the sector. This will allow our students to gain valuable work placements that will make up 20% of the T Level course.
Along with new buildings and new courses comes new equipment, some of which arrived during the Christmas break! One of these new pieces of equipment was a Kuka mechanical arm, which our Engineering team loved testing out and playing around with. Engineering lecturers Mohamed, Iman and Tracey each had a go playing around with the arm and learninbg how it works, so that the skills can be passed onto students come September. Our Deputy Principal Alexandra even had a go!
When our Engineering Hub is complete, students will be able to manage and maintain a wide range of equipment, including the arm, as well as perform tasks to help build and create Engineering projects. We can't wait to see the hub when it opens, and are so excited for what it will bring to our college!
