Ashford College takes over Ashford Designer Outlet unit

A unit at the Ashford Designer Outlet got an EKC Group makeover during the half term, allowing shoppers to get informed about the incredible range of provision the Group offers.

Staff from Ashford College’s sites on Elwick Road and Wotton Road were joined by members of the Group’s four business units in the pop-up shop, hosting stalls to explain what they could provide to visitors in terms of training and support.

Running from February 14 to February 18, the collaboration with the Outlet proved very successful in attracting prospective onboarders and raising awareness of the Group’s many achievements.

The shop also featured a ‘Wall of Kindness’ which allowed visitors to write messages of encouragement to strangers, highlighting the Group’s hard work in promoting mental wellbeing and community.

Ashford College’s Deputy Principal Alexandra Syrotiuk was overjoyed with the project and its reception. She said: “We were absolutely delighted that McArthurGlen Ashford Outlet could provide us with a unit for the week, to enable us to set up the pop-up college experience!

“This showcased all of the courses available at Ashford College sites for 16- to 18-year-olds and adults, in additional to apprenticeships and digital learning. This was the first time we have had the opportunity to do this event within the local community, raising awareness of what is available at Ashford College.

“Due to the success over the February half-term, we will be repeating the pop-up experience in the Easter holidays. The idea is to represent different courses, skills and trades through small workshop sessions and exhibiting student work; as well as empowering people to consider career opportunities and next steps through careers advice and guidance.”

Centre Manager at Ashford Designer Outlet, Peter Corr, said: “We were delighted to host a pop up for Ashford College to give them the space to showcase their college courses and career opportunities available in the local community.

“To be able to offer support to the next generation and be a small part in helping them make the next steps for their future career is something we’re honoured to be part of.”
