Art and Design UAL Foundation Diploma Level 4

The UAL Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design provides a transition from general education to specialist art and design education. This enables students to make an informed decision when applying to Higher Education or seeking employment within a related industry. The programme therefore builds on students’ prior experience, linking skills already acquired with ideas and challenges, which will increase their independence and enable them to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards necessary to progress to Higher Education or to an alternative career path.

What will I learn?

In this course, you will learn following 3 key units. These are Unit 1: Diagnostic Investigation into Creative Practice, Unit 3: Developing Specialist Practice, and Unit 4: Consolidating Practice. These cover a range of topics, and at the end of the course, you will be able to.

Demonstrate awareness of the different perspectives, approaches and ethics within diverse creative practice.
Research, analyse and evaluate relevant information as part of their creative practice.
Understand, adapt and safely use a wide range of 2D, 3D and 4D appropriate practical methods and skills for creative practice and production.
Explore solutions to complex problems through the application of practical, theoretical and technical understanding.
Take responsibility for research, planning and time management to access and action progression opportunities.
Use critically evaluative and reflective skills in order to take responsibility for own learning, development and decision‑making.
Effectively communicate and present ideas and creative practice to appropriate audiences

Progression routes:

Once you have completed this course, you can go onto higher education in a number of art related specialisms. You can also progress straight into the art industry in a variety of roles, or use the skills you have gained to change your career path.
