Pre-Access is a progression course which allows the learner to learn and develop skills which include essay writing, Harvard referencing, proof-reading, IT knowledge and research. It involves areas which include UCAS applications, personal statements and career progression. This course fully prepares the learner for level 3 education and is the first step to possible university progression.
If you are a mature student who is returning to education after a period of time and are planning to progress onto the full Access to Higher Education course or any other further education courses, then Pre-Access is for you.
You will gain the necessary skills to further your studies including:
You will be assessed using a coursework portfolio of three units built, as the course progresses.
The course prepares you for the Access to Higher Education course or for any number of further education courses.
You do not need formal qualifications, just a good level of English and a willingness to learn.
You will be invited to an interview. We recommend you have at least one GCSE in English or Maths before starting this course or else discuss our two year option at interview, involving a Pre-Access year before undertaking the full qualification.
You need to be over 19 and have a desire to study at university level.
