Building on our past to create our future
The future of education and skills for East Kent, taken forward as the East Kent College Group, builds on a proud tradition of technical education within each of our college locations.
Since the founding of Thanet Technical College and Canterbury College, both in the 1940s, the colleges in Broadstairs, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Sheppey have achieved notable successes in supporting student achievement.
We see shining examples of our students’ ability and positive attitude. Over the past three years students have contributed over 100,000 hours of volunteering to support local community projects, as well as winning individual and team awards in local, regional and national skills competitions.
In the past four years, colleges within the Group have won three national Association of Colleges’ Beacon Awards for the quality of our work in Student Support, Progression Curriculum and Supported Internships.
"Apprenticeships provide an increasingly important route into careers within the NHS. As a large employer, and one of the largest hospital trusts in England, we look forward to working with the EKC Group in co-designing apprenticeship and skills training to deliver our vision for great healthcare from great people.
